This is because the slave cylinder draws fluid from the brake reservoir and applies it to the clutch fork/throw out bearing. And if your slave cylinder has gone mad , it could leave you stranded on the road.

Changing your slave cylinder is also a must when you want to upgrade to an M5 flywheel/clutch assembly. This Turner Motorsport product fits the E39 528i and 540i models.

Also, with this technology, the passenger cabin resonance is eliminated resulting in a quieter cruising sound coupled with an awe-inspiring roar at full throttle

This muffler uses a straight- thru flow design that that produces maximum flow and very little restriction. The decrease in the restrictive back-pressure produces more horsepower and torque as well as an ideal sound for the E39 M5′s V8 engine. It is an axle-back system that replaces the rear muffler
action of the exhaust. Very ideal for those who want a lower volume for normal cruising

Jay Chen writes about Steve Dinan’s S3 package for the E39 M5. It is supercharger that is an improvement of the Dinan’s tuned NA S2 package, A single centrifugal blower is added, which will make your car run faster. It will provide more power and acceleration and of course, thrill in driving

One has to shift faster and earlier than normal since the car pegs the limiter quickly. And there is no more need for passing space and no waiting for power. The core of the S3 is a Vortech V-2-T-Trim Centifugal supercharger. This blows a 7 psi boost through an air-to-air intercooler, which is mounted behind the driver’s side headlight and bumper scoop.

Chen is all praises for the S3 package that Dinan developed. The bottom line here is how easy it is to drive an S3. And what’s more, even in aggressive driving, it will only give what you ask of it and never bites back

Rushkark discussed this topic in his blog, BMW M5 Tuning.

This will work specially well if your E39 M5 has the fold- down rear seats, airbags (SRS) and the rear sunshade. It is supposedly a simple but tedious job and it is important to know that the logic of the job is to remove the rear set base, side bolsters, c pillar trim and the actual deck too. The list of things to be removed goes on and on.

A small slotted screwdriver is a useful tool here. And as soon as the bolsters are out you are almost finished but this is making the long story short. It is aptly noted here that removal is literally the reverse of reinstallation. However, I am somehow not convinced that this is a simple job

Learn to do it yourself and check this site: http://bmwm5tuning.blogspot.com/2008/03/how-to-remove-diy-e39m5-rear-deck.html
