Revisiting Steve Dinan’s e39 M5 S2 Package

I think this was when Dinan went from being a really good BMW tuner – to a really good and well known BMW tuner.  It was when Car and Driver produced this article.

Anyway, this article is many years old now, but it still reigns as a testament to both Steve Dinan’s ability as a tuner AND to the BMW e39 m5.

“And we did not find a downside, or any quirky behavior, with the
increased performance. The exhaust system delightfully burbles at idle
and emits a satisfying rasp at full throttle, but it settles into a
subdued hum when cruising. The engine’s throttle response is big-block
instant.”  Car and Driver

The article is written in great automotive journalistic prose and does a good job of outlining how Steve took an amazing car and made it even better.  Talk about killer free advertising!  However, Dinan earned it.  In addition, the article is a good outline of all the stuff you can still buy today for the E39 m5, which is fully supported by the Dinan dealer network in the USA and now Western Europe.

In the m5 Video Guide I share in detail information about Dinan’s mods in addition to every other performance tuner I could find out there.  It’s a comprehensive list that should save you time if modding the Beast is in your future. With 30+ years of mod history in BMW’s Dinan remains a safe bet for current and last gen M5′s.
