Replacing the Final Stage Unit In Your E39 M5

If the A/C heater-blower in your E39 M5 behaves like it has a mind of its own, the most likely cause is a faulty final stage or blower motor resistor.

Here is a do it yourself site that shows you how to replace this part. The job is quite simple and all the tools you need is a Phillips screw driver and a flashlight. And of course, a new Final stage unit (FSU) with PN number 64 11 6 923 294. Don’t be confused if your parts dealer calls it a blower motor resistor.

It is indeed a simple enough job but you have to be careful with the wire connections. That is why the pictures here are large for easy identification.
