Located in Seattle, this E39 M5 has silver paint matched to a black interior. The owner is a BMW CCA member, so it would be reasonable to assume that this car has been maintained properly. For security’s sake, the VIN has not been published but is readily available at the dealer. Except for the Dinan front brakes, the owner has kept this M5 stock. It’s got heated seats, a nav system and metal interior trim. Asking price is $28,000. Only a single picture has been posted with the ad so we can’t comment on how the car’s condition looks overall. One of the comments in the listing points out that this silver car had previously been listed as being in the Ontario area, with only 80 miles then. As others correctly point out, cars like these, like any other performance car, don’t belong in storage but out on the road. At this point, this particular E39 M5 may just end up as part of an investment portfolio, which would be too bad.

According to the seller, front pads and rear tires are new, with less than 2000 and 1000 miles on the respective parts. The front tires need to be changed though. The wheels are staggered size aftermarket items but their visual appeal and match to the E39 body is a matter of personal preference.

There’s new oil in the engine and the title is clean. Unfortunately, that’s all the detail the seller gives. A VIN would have been nice and there’s no mention of maintenance records. As has been the advice of old hands in different discussion boards, maintenance records are very important for a car like the E39 M5, as the potential buyer can see which (expensive) parts are coming up for replacement, and if critical service work in the life of the particular E39 M5 was performed.

The equipment list for this E39 M5 includes power windows, cassette AM/FM Radio with CD, power steering, cruise control, nav system, power door locks, dual zone airconditioning, leather seats, sunroof, power seat, and dual air bags, M-Sport steering wheel and Xenon headlamps. ABS brakes, the E39 M5-exclusive 394 horsepower 5.0-liter V8 and a six-speed manual with a sport suspension make up the motivational package in this M5.

A BMW gasket kit and hoses have been installed to replace the worn sealing hardware. The engine was also given a Mobile 1 oil change and spark plug replacement. Other items that were serviced were the passenger mat sensor and steering angle sensor replacement.

It’s too bad there are only a couple of pictures for this car. Nice and clean E39 M5s are getting harder to find and some shots of the interior, trunk and engine bay might have made for a more interesting listing. As it is, little modifications seem to have been done to the car and this would make a nice base for a personalized ride.

I am currently selling my 2000 BMW M5 with only 20,000 miles! Sale price: $26,000. The car is in amazing condition. The paint shines as if it was just delivered! The color is a rare, Silverstone with full black leather interior with wood trim. Mechanically, the car is in fantastic condition.

I am the second owner and I have meticulously taken care of the car. The car has a clean carfax and it has never been any form of an accident. I have installed Goodyear F1 tires and I modified the exhaust so that the car has a very ‘throaty’ V8 sound but without any interior drone. The car has a mileage of 103,000 miles.
